Though their name may suggest it, these boys are not new recruits on the music scene. Brisbane band Rookie has been cooking up a mix of punk, pop and rock music since 2000. Never sticking to one style these versatile artists released their debut album Beach Pit Politics in 2003. A result of heartfelt song-writing and years spent thrashing out tunes to pumped up audiences around Australia the album is a must have for fans and the uninitiated.

Rocking with intense lives shows, Rookie impresses the industry wherever they go. They have shared the stage with giant acts such as Toby Mac and Pillar and in January 2005 they supported Third Day - another giant.

Rookie use their love for music to promote their first love: Jesus Christ. Hitting you between the eyes is the boys' passion for God. Band members Nathaniel McManus, Philip Moore, Andrew Whitaker and Sam Williams are all determined to influence this generation, whom they suggest, are searching more than any previous generation. The album, gigs and school visits give
the boys a platform to deliver a resounding message.

Having sold copious amounts of their debut ep "an epilogue to start the story", and through extensive touring through-out Queensland - the guys, Eric Swavely (guitar and lead vocals), Phil Graham (guitar and backing vocals), Matt Graham (drums), and Andrew Davidson (bass) are keen to now take it to the rest of the nation - and will do so next year.

Between touring the guys have been busy playing heaps of hometown shows with some of the worlds best, including Americas Anberlin, and Aussie favorites Kid Courageous and Antiskeptic.

Half Way Out are a six piece rock 'n' roll outfit. Their music is defined as SKA - a fast paced, energetic, and highly melodic style of music.
Thus, Half Way Out have a great stage show with loads of energy bursting forth in their antics. But don't be fooled into categorising them too neatly, these guys like to throw a bit of everything into their music and have a wide
musical diversity.

The band itself consists of Guitar, Bass, Drums, Trombone, Sax, Trumpet, and three part vocal harmony. Half Way Out's target audience is the teen's to twenty something's, but their music is greatly appreciated by Mums and Dads, Grandparents, Preschoolers and Toddlers. This band is definitely worth a listen.

Dextors Conscience is song project, put together by singer/songwriter Matthew Palmer. The brainchild was birthed from a desire to express his feelings and experiences about life and how it happens to him, as it happens, in a raw and unveiled context. Dextors Conscience has primarily been a solo accoustic act since 2002, but has been known to also perform as a duo, three and even four piece band.

The songs have a rich melody coupled with soothing chords and heart felt lyrics, often you can't help to just sit and listen.

"Everything I write is real, there's no fiction. These songs are my thoughts, as they are. I need to get these feelings out so I write them down." - Matt Palmer

Benneson Theory first formed as a three piece high school punk band in 2003 under the name ‘Nuclear Penguin’. In early 2004 piano player Michael took the microphone and bought a whole new dimension to the group.

At this point the band left their one voice punk sound behind them and began to develop a stronger, more defining sound.

After playing close to a years worth of live shows, Np were finding it hard to shake their ‘pop punk’ label, and were beginning to feel their sound was lacking maturity and needed something else.

After beginning to write new material in mid 2005, Np were joined by two new members Aaron on lead guitar, and Nat took a place behind the kit.

So in July 2005, with editions to the band and a change in musical direction, it was decided that it was time to leave the name Nuclear Penguin and all strings attached to it behind them, and re-define themselves as ‘Benneson Theory’.

In March 2004, drummer Trent Bryson-Dean sat in on a gig with a jazz band called SCAT. He was very quickly impressed with the playing of Chris Poulsen (Fender Rhodes) and vowed to Chris and bassist Jeremy O’Connor that he would book a gig for the trio as soon as he possibly could. Trent was able to secure a gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse five months later in August.

The gig proved to be a great success, was recorded by the band and a four track ep of the show was released for sale at gigs. “I don’t know if the guys believed me when I said that I would book us a gig, but nevertheless we were all very excited by the obvious chemistry and interplay that was going on! We knew that we had become a band and that we had started to play the music that was closest to each of our hearts.”

It just so happened that a gentleman from another venue was at the Powerhouse gig that night and in the coming weeks he contacted the trio about further gigs. Since this time cp3 have been playing regularly at the Press club, Ric’s Bar and every Tuesday of each alternate month at the Bowery. During this time the trio had written an album worth of original tunes which they recorded in February 2005 and released as their full-length debut entitled, ‘Tang!’ in mid-March.
